Scammers Pose as UCSB Orchestra and Choir Members
The phrase “no soliciting” has transitioned from a request to a warning.
According to Paul Berkowitz, chair of UCSB’s Department of Music, numerous people have reported being solicited by people posing as UCSB orchestra and choir members asking for donations to finance a trip for the program.
The problem? “There is no such tour and no fundraising or solicitations being organized by the UCSB Symphony Orchestra,” says Berkowitz.
If approached by people posing as solicitors on behalf of the orchestra, please contact either the Goleta Police Department at 681-4133 or the Santa Barbara Police Department at 897-2300.
