Red Brick Fever

I don’t understand what the City of Santa Barbara is up to regarding recent development projects. Apparently there is a movement on to tear up every downtown intersection and put in red bricks where the crosswalks existed. Then there are the parking kiosks. Recently, the city has replaced what appeared to be a perfectly fine parking kiosk in the Anapamu/Victoria lot with a brand new one. I’m sure the money for these projects was already approved and no doubt comes from some enterprise fund, or state grants, or maybe even Measure D. Regardless, in these tough times, these expenditures are frivolous and a waste of our taxpayer dollars.—Stephen Wheeler, S.B.
