On this week’s Poodle Radio, Colin Marshall is first joined by Anne and Lucian Cravens, writer and subject, respectively, of the paper’s cover story. Anne also happens to be Lucian’s mother, the one who had to rush him to the hospital when last year, at age eight, he suffered the sudden bite of an extra-large rattlesnake. They discuss the experience of the bite itself, the surprisingly extended hospital recovery, the aftermath of the incident, and all Anne has since learned in her research about the rattlesnakes in this area.
Poodle Radio #23
On this week’s Poodle Radio, Colin Marshall is first joined by Anne and Lucian Cravens, writer and subject, respectively, of the paper’s cover story.
Then, the Indy’s sports guy John Zant drops by to talk about his long history with Santa Barbara sports—including his informed perspective on what, exactly, those high school football rivalries are all about—as well as his and the world’s preparations for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, whose run-up is covered by Daniel Sargent in the paper. Though it’s soccer’s biggest event yet and involves 32 teams from around the world, it turns out to be as much a local event as a global one, where even certain watering holes in Santa Barbara stay open in the wee hours, when many of the Cup’s televised matches happen to be going on over in South Africa.
Poodle Radio music producer Aly Comingore has this week rounded up music from the likes of Real Estate, Cage the Elephant, Natalie D-Napoleon, and Rooney. They’ll all be playing Santa Barbara or its surroundings soon. You can tune into Poodle Radio live every Tuesday morning from 8-9 a.m. on KCSB, 91.9 FM in Santa Barbara or on KCSB’s webcast at KCSB.org.
