Vandenberg Air Force Base successfully launched a test ground-based interceptor missile at 3:25 p.m. on 6/6. It was the first missile defense program launch from Vandenberg’s Launch Facility 24, which was recently upgraded to support such testing. The mission, said Vandenberg officials, was only for collecting data and evaluating system performance; there was no “target launch” or “intercept attempt” for the launch.
