Female Brain Gone Insane Author Will Sign Books at Chaucer’s

Santa Barbaran Mia Lundin, nurse practitioner and author of “Female Brain Gone Insane: An Emergency Guide for Women Who Feel Like They Are Falling Apart,” is offering an alternative to prescription drugs and antidepressants. She will be holding a book signing event at Chaucer’s Books in Loreto Plaza (the Gelson’s Market shopping center) on Tuesday, March 23, at 7 p.m.

Through 18 years of study and experience in the health field, she believes she has found a way to balance female hormones, and help women regain control over their emotional and physical health. Her recently published book addresses undiagnosed and mistreated symptoms that cause what she considers unnecessary suffering for millions of women.

Anxiety, midlife crisis, chronic depression, sleep disorders, and reproductive diseases have reached epidemic proportions for women in the U.S., and Lundin claims that acknowledging the connection between female hormone imbalance and brain chemistry could be a big part of the solution. Her patients and fans have flooded her Web site, claiming that Lundin’s technique for hormone replacement therapy has changed, if not saved, their lives. One of the few nurse practitioners to enter into private practice, Lundin owns The Center for Hormonal and Nutritional Balance, Inc. in Santa Barbara.

Female Brain Gone Insane provides personalized and unique action plans for women of different types, centered on the use of “bioidentical” hormone replacement therapy and nutritional supplements. Busy doctors don’t often take the time to understand delicate balances among hormones, vitamins, diet, adrenal glands, thyroid, brain neurotransmitters, and “gut” health. The connections she draws take a lot of the mystery out of previously undiagnosed symptoms that women have been experiencing for years without proper diagnosis and treatment.
