Monthlong Bike Celebration Features Many Fun Cycling Events

Got wheels? May is CycleMAYnia month in S.B., and the S.B. Bicycle Coalition, City of S.B., and Traffic Solutions groups are asking residents to ditch their gas-powered movers in favor of two-wheeled rides. The following is a roundup of just a few of CycleMAYnia’s fun upcoming events this month:

1st Thursday Cycle Chic Bike Fashion Show: Featuring S.B. fashion designers, retailers, and bicycle fashion companies. (Thu., May 6, 5:30-7:30pm. Casa de la Guerra, 15 E. De la Guerra St.)

Tweed Ride: Don your tweediest outfit and parade up and down State St. on your wheels. (Sun., May 16, 3pm. Meet at WheelHouse, 528 Anacapa St.)

Bike to School Day: Multiple events organized by COAST Safe Routes to School Project. (Tue., May 18. Schools throughout the South Coast; see Web site for details.)

Downtown Ice Cream Ride: Gather on campus for a ride to Yogurtland in downtown S.B.(Sun., May 23, 2-5pm. See Web site for meet-up location at UCSB.)
