Crime Victims for Dudley

We were part of the group of runners who were victims of a drunken driver. This man drove into our team while we were running, killing one of us. This letter is to express our shock regarding a politically motivated and painfully misleading accusation made by Josh Lynn. Mr. Lynn accused Joyce Dudley of plea-bargaining our case in order to get back to her campaign. This patently false accusation was made by candidate Lynn in his negative campaign against Joyce Dudley in the race for District Attorney. Ms. Dudley was the prosecuting attorney in our case, and we personally witnessed Joyce’s relentless prosecution of this case, her tireless and expert work, and her caring and sensitive concern for each of us and for the family of our stricken teammate. Here are the facts: As a result of Joyce’s efforts, the perpetrator will likely be in prison for the rest of his life. He is currently 58 years old; he was sentenced to 35 yrs 4 months and will not be eligible for parole for 17 years. If he would have been convicted as charged of 2nd degree murder he would have been sentenced to 15 years to life, but eligible for parole in 15 years. We were the victims. Joyce never compromised our interests. At no time did she compromise justice. We know Mr. Lynn’s accusation to be completely false. With this baseless attack, Mr. Lynn is playing politics in its meanest form. Each of us will vote for Joyce Dudley because we know her to be an amazing prosecuting attorney.
