Teamsters Recruit at UCSB

In conjunction with 10 other UC campus movements, UCSB’s Coalition of University Employees (CUE) announced on 5/24 that it has officially joined the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. Statewide CUE members number 14,000, most of whom are clerical employees, and around 600 of those members are from the UCSB campus. The main issues employees want addressed, says the local’s president, include respectful and fair treatment, job stability, and wage increases. Dawn Hobbs, a former News-Press reporter who was fired for union organizing and is still seeking reinstatement, helped the Teamsters organize members at the university.
