Where’s My Band?

Hello my name is Sinuous. I’ve been performing in Santa Barbara for about 10 years. I’ve done shows with the likes of Rza and Gza of the Wu-Tang Clan, Slick Rick, Dj Muggs, Brother Ali, KRS-1, and more. I’ve been performing with my live band, The Blue Steps, over the last year. I was in question when I seen your local band article and didn’t see me or my band as one of the local bands in the 2010 Santa Barbara Band Guide? I’ve recently been in an article online on your site when being interviewed on our local Tree Top Tales Hip Hop show. I’m one of the first of three hip hop producers to start the hip hop scene here. I have also released albums internationally in Japan, and London.—Sinuous

We were disappointed that you did not include the Brewery Boyz from Carpinteria in your article on local music or in the online voting (and there was no place for a write-in vote). The Brewery Boyz headlined the opening night of the Avocado Festival in Carpinteria, and plays throughout the Carpinteria and Santa Barbara areas, including the Santa Barbara Beer Festival this month at Elings Park, the Lou Grant Parent-Child Workshop Fundraiser this month, the Rods and Roses Show in Carpinteria over the Fourth of July weekend each year, etc. The band is on Facebook and on YouTube. We hope you will update your list and keep us in mind for future articles. Thank you.—Matthew I. Berger, of the Brewery Boyz

How can you overlook Soul Majestic? Best band in Santa Barbara with a big following. They were at Soho on Saturday. Eric grew up here, and they moved back to town two years ago.—Ron Iverson

Editor’s Note: The 2010 Band Guide was compiled based on submissions we requested and received from the music making community. Knowing that we could never compile (or fit) every band in Santa Barbara into one issue, we asked those interested in being featured to submit their information to our editors by August 31, 2010. Bands who did not submit, or submitted after that cut-off date could not be included due to space and deadline issues.
