Tri-Counties Council’s Walk to Cure Diabetes
In the tri-counties, it’s estimated there are 14,000 people with type 1 diabetes. To help support type 1 diabetics and their families, the Tri-Counties Council (TCC) was formed in 2009, and it’s associated with the L.A. chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). This year, the JDRF is holding its annual Walk to Cure Diabetes in Santa Barbara to raise funds for the TCC, whose goal is to distribute Bags of Hope to newly diagnosed families, offer peer support to diabetics and their families, and arrange activities that bring the type 1 community together, according to a press release. The event, which is cosponsored by Sansum Diabetes Research Institute, takes place Saturday, September 18, at Leadbetter Beach. For more info or to register for the walk, visit walk.jdrf.org.
