The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) has posed a challenge that will provide cash prizes to participating agencies that increase the adoption of dogs and cats. Santa Barbara County Animal Services is stepping up to the challenge and needs the assistance of the entire community with daily voting on-line for our shelter between April 4 and April 15, 2011. Voting takes place at: www.VotetoSaveLives.org
The ASPCA challenge is a two part process. The first part, a qualifying heat, is a competition for which community animal shelters can get the most community members votes. If Santa Barbara County ranks as one of the top 50 vote getters during the April 4 - April 15 time frame, we are qualified to compete in the second phase of the competition.
The second and final phase of the competition is demonstrating a percentage increase in animal adoptions between July and October of 2011. All agencies who make it into the final phase win some cash prize for their agencies. The shelter that has the greatest percentage increase in animal adoptions between July and October will receive $100,000. There are other large cash prizes for agencies that rank high in the percentage increase of animal adoptions.
Santa Barbara County is a community of animal lovers. All animal lovers are urged to go on-line daily between April 4 and April 15 and vote for Santa Barbara Animal Services. The website for voting is www.VotetoSaveLives.org Animal lovers can also send this information to their friends and family. People can vote for Santa Barbara Animal Services from any location where there is a computer.
