SBCC Named One of Country’s Best Community Colleges

Santa Barbara City College got a nice nod this week as the Aspen Institute’s College Excellence Program identified SBCC as one of the 120 best community colleges in the country. Surveying more than 1,200 schools nationwide and judging them based on learning standards, degree completion rates, and the ability to provide training grounds for real world jobs with competitive wages, the Aspen Institute is working toward dishing out $1 million worth of prize money to a trio of community colleges that do it right. Of the 120 schools named this week, eight to 10 finalist schools will be selected by this fall, with winners announced in December.
