Members of Santa Barbara’s art community are putting a creative spin on fundraising for Japan on May 7. Held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., the event called “All For Japan” will raise money from the sale of ceramics, origami, and jewelry created by area artists.

Margie Basch, a Santa Barbara Adult Education ceramics teacher, is organizing the event, which will donate proceeds to Direct Relief International.

All of the art will be provided to the fundraiser by world-renowned artists as well as the faculty and students of Santa Barbara Continuing Education. According to Basch, Direct Relief International asked that 100 percent of the profits from the fundraiser be donated.

“They do such a fabulous job,” said Basch. “We’re guaranteed that 100 percent of what we give them will go to Japan.” The event will include a silent auction and booths featuring clay art, pottery, and jewelry for sale.

All For Japan will be held at Tannahill Auditorium, located at the Schott Center on 310 West Padre Street.
