After a brief stint in one of the smallest storefronts in town at the corner of Anacapa and Ortega streets, La Tour Wine Merchant/Tasting Room has moved into bigger digs (224 Helena St., 403-6923, latourwinemerchants.com), sharing with the recently opened The Pub in the Funk Zone. The space makes it easier for groups to indulge, and anyone can do so with pairings from C’est Cheese and charcuterie from Spare Parts (made by Weston Richards), not to mention a full menu of flatbreads and other eats. The surprise at La Tour is that all the wine is European, for the owners figured we had plenty of places to drink all the great wines of the region. A flight of five wine tastes for $10 is a fine deal, European or Santa Barbaran.

Excellent! I loved the small place on the corner. I am so happy to have a place where we can try something other than local overpriced wines that we have been convinced we must be drinking. There is so much great wine produced around the world and it is nice to have it available by the glass. Thank you.
