Both Malzone and Boehm swam played collegiate water polo for Boston College and can provide the safe and encouraging environment necessary to teach all skill levels to gain the most from their swim workout. The seminar will be held from 2:30PM-5:00PM, is open to all skill levels, and will cover a full range of movement from simply staying afloat to advanced swim technique.

Swimming works your whole body, simultaneously improving cardiovascular conditioning, muscle strength, endurance, posture, and flexibility. Without overworking the heart, swimming improves the body’s use of oxygen and increases lung function. Crossfit has gradually incorporated swimming into its exercise plan to incorporate different forms of strength training that may be more suitable to different body types and fitness levels.

“The Crossfit workout is applicable to all body types and fitness levels,” says Eric Malzone. “By adding swimming to the Crossfit workout, we underscore the high intensity exercises with a low impact workout ideal for providing the joints and back with a necessary break while still continuing to work your body.”

Friends and former college teammates Traver Boehm and Eric Malzone opened Crossfit Pacific Coast in June of 2009. Traver and Eric are certified Crossfit coaches and have been involved in Crossfit for the last 6 years. They both moved to Santa Barbara with the goal of opening a Crossfit affiliate and providing the highest level of coaching and wellness support available on the Central Coast. 2 years later, Crossfit Pacific Coast employs five coaches, a yoga instructor and has over 125 clients in Santa Barbara.
