Sebadoh at Velvet Jones
Dave Mount

Over the course of Sebadoh’s Monday night stop at Velvet frontman Lou Barlow poked fun at his old age, and apologized for playing with broken amps and not practicing enough before hitting the road. But for a band that could never be described as “tight” they at least sounded true to form. The Sebadoh trio (featuring Barlow, Jason Loewenstein, and Fiery Furnaces’ Bob D’Amico) really hit their stride about halfway through their 30 song set.

The night was comprised mostly of tunes off of the recently reissued Bakesale (1994) and soon-to-be-reissued Harmacy (1996), but also featured some rare sonic gems for a responsive but modest crowd of fans.
