Ojai Center for the Arts Literary Branch Feb. 14 event

Share an alternative Valentine evening by attending The Ojai Art Center’s Literary Branch presentation of live readings from the book “In the Fullness of Time: 32 Women on Life After 50.” The 7:00 p.m. Valentine event will feature the book’s editor Linda Gravenson, contributors Gretchen Haight and Joan Nicholson, and actress Leslie Paxton.

Readers will draw from the book’s compilation of 50 original essays, interviews and poems. The material covers the theme of loss and change, addressing the challenges and opportunities we face as we grow older.

Reading this book is like talking to a really good friend who is prepared to hear your midnight confessions and then share a few of her own,” said one reader Pearl Cleage. “Getting older is no picnic, but reading this book offers the immeasurable comfort of knowing we are not alone in the journey and that as much as there are moments to weep, there are also lots of moments when laughter is the only sane response.”

Besides reading selected passages Gravenson, Haight, and Nicholson will take part in a panel discussion with the audience.

Join in for an evening of literature that portrays what Publishers Weekly called, “Honest, heartfelt voices,” at The Ojai Center for the Arts, 113 S. Montgomery St. There is a suggested donation of $5 for the evening.
