LIVINLA VIDA JUSTA: In a town where news reporting sometimes gets downright gladiatorial, Cathy Murillo rides a white horse and approaches all her stories with an open heart. A graduate of UCSB with a degree in dramatic arts, Murillo spent several years as a staff writer in the news department at The Independent, where she developed a sensitive ear for hot leads and a huge network of sources in every part of the community. In recent years, she has lent her talents to several other media outlets by producing radio news programs at KCSB and making documentary videos, all while retaining her focus on who’s doing good and what’s going right in our city. With her keen sense of social justice and an equally avid appetite for hitting the dance floor, Murillo was the perfect choice to write this week’s cover feature on ¡Viva el Arte!
