Poodle Radio on the Best of the Film Festival and the Challenge of Lois Capps

January 18, 2010

First on this week’s Poodle Radio, Colin Marshall talks to Executive Editor Nick Welsh about his cover story on Representative Lois Capps, who’s gone from notoriously nice to well-known Democratic “800-pound gorilla.” The story deals with the arc of her political career as well as the challenge she faces getting things done in the national political reality she faces today. Then, Santa Barbara International Film Festival Executive Director Roger Durling drops into the studio to talk about some of the most interesting of the nearly 200 movie scheduled to play around Santa Barbara at the end of this month and the beginning of February, including Sam Vartas’ Red Light Revolution (“China’s first sex shop comedy”), the France-Kyrgyzstan-Germany-Netherlands co-production The Light Thief, and Sylvain Chomet’s lost Jacques Tati project The Illusionist.
