TOP SPORTING EVENTS: JULY 5-10

Baseballs will be flying around UCSB’s Caesar Uyesaka Stadium this week. The Santa Barbara Foresters will conclude a three-game series against the Conejo Oaks on Wednesday evening, July 6. The Foresters (19-7) defeated the Oaks 8-4 in their July 4 game before a large crowd at UCSB. The teams play at Sparky Anderson Field in Thousand Oaks on Tuesday.

Beginning Thursday, the Foresters will host the Rawlings California Cup. They will play the Major League Baseball Academy Barons, the Santa Barbara Stars, and the Oaks in the Santa Barbara bracket of the tournament. The winner will face the team that comes out of San Luis Obispo on Sunday at UCSB. The tournament champion will earn a berth in the National Baseball Congress World Series.

International men’s water polo comes to UCSB on Wednesday night. The Gauchos will take on the national team of Colombia at 7 p.m. at the Campus Pool. Admission is free. UCSB’s lineup features Brian Shoemaker, a junior out of Dos Pueblos High.

The 74th annual Semana Nautica Summer Sports Festival will continue through the weekend. Upcoming events include masters swimming and volleyball, tennis, beach volleyball and a six-mile ocean swim. Information: semananautica.com.
