A recent fire in Santa Barbara, California burnt down the home & business of Lara Romeo and Alex Conrad, with their two children Adrien (12), Clive (4),and dog.

When we reached out to the family to offer them support here is what they said:

“We are being so amazingly taken care of by our families and friends, and friends of friends, firemen, policemen, neighbors, vets, grocers and postal workers, insurance agents, school communities, Landmark communities, the Aikido dojo, Yoginis, and so many people who were previously strangers. It’s quite the incredible experience”

Alex Conrad went on to say “They don’t need anything and all the family wanted was for everyone to be fulfilled in their own lives!”

Lara continued “I also wanted you to know that several weeks ago I started working on a project to create a swim center in Santa Barbara, and the only thing that survived of my personal items (aside from bike and car) was the inside of my messenger bag-the outside was ‘toast’-that contained my notes and plans for the swim center, with the little Acer tablet I had bought to help create the project. So at that moment I think I became more committed than ever to seeing that come to fruition. Not only that but my original intention was a gift to the community (and hopefully many more to come), and all of your recent support has given me additional motivation to give back to all of you. Anyway, enough about the fire, on to the water……”

An artist in Los Angeles was so moved by the story of this family that he created a beautiful bronze sculpture and donated it to be sold on auction to raise money for the family. The artist is Lix Mario a very talented Los Angeles sculpture who himself has lost so much though out his life, we so inspired by the story that he went to work and created this bronze sculpture to support the family.

A community of 50 people in Los Angeles led by Ms. Petra Korn, has now taken on this Sculpture auction project to rebuild the home and business of this amazing family.
