Celebrate Independence Day with a Presidential Dinner

On Saturday, July 2, history buffs, foodies, and all American patriots are invited to join winemaker Stephan Bedford for an Independence Day Presidential Dinner at Bedford Winery’s Tasting Room and Courtyard in Los Alamos.

The evening begins at 5:30 pm with a Wine Reception. The dinner, inspired by southern and Creole cuisine, features recipes from our third President, Thomas Jefferson and will be matched with Bedford new releases and library wines. Following will be a reading of Jefferson’s Independence Address and live, toe tapping music under the stars.

Thomas Jefferson’s dinners at Monticello are said to have been “served in half Virginian and half French style, in good taste and abundance,” according to statesman Daniel Webster. A true connoisseur of living, Jefferson’s passion for quality is evident in the dynamic, unique Monticello cookery influenced by colonial European, native American, slave, Creole and southern cuisine. He was among the first to bring pasta, french fries and ice cream to America and ranked his introduction of the olive tree and rice to his new country with the authorship of the Declaration of Independence. Known throughout the States as a wine connoisseur, Jefferson advised presidents Washington, Adams, Madison and Monroe on the best wines for executive functions.

The cost is $40 per person all inclusive, $35 for Bedford Wine Club Members. Seating is limited and reservations can be made by calling 805-344-2107 or email info@bedfordwinery.com.
