The California tax authority estimates that it now collects $58 million to $105 million in sales tax on annual retail sales of $700 million to $1.3 billion of medical marijuana. But the Santa Barbara County Supervisors won’t get off their pompous duffs and invite this medical commerce to the county so the county remains sitting on the sidelines in profiting from marijuana.

As for the Santa Barbara fuddy-duddy City Council, it has sabotaged the opening of all medical marijuana outlets within city limits except for about six. But both county and city are host to how many leaching wine and cheese non-profits that are exempt from taxes? Clearly an expensive and culturally bigoted way to run a modern day society. If all you nanny-staters and fake conservatives would kindly get out of the way marijuana will emerge as the leading means for California’s financial recovery. With or without the Obama administration this is happening.
