After a successful 2010 summer, West Wind’s Santa Barbara Drive-In will reopen again on March 11, 2011. Lying dormant for 19 years, West Wind management tested the waters last May and reopened the theatre to a resounding success. This year they are opening earlier in anticipation of even more demand.

“We were thrilled with the demand we saw last year,” said Patrick LaCava, SVP of Operations. “We suspected that the community would appreciate the Drive-In experience and are pleased to bring it back again in 2011.”

The Santa Barbara Drive-In closed 20 years ago due to poor attendance but with a 40% growth in business at their other locations, West Wind management decided to test demand once more. “Our first weekend we had lines of cars around the block and even a celebrity or two” said LaCava, “Demand was extraordinary.”

Ken Krummes, General Manager of the Drive-In is looking forward to another event. “In a few weeks, on April 14, we’ll host our annual Free Customer Appreciation Night. That’s the night we open the gates to the whole community and show movies free as a sign of support for our regular customers and to let new customers rediscover the drive-in experience free. We’ll be featuring some of the biggest movies from the last six months”.

The first movie of the season will be Battle:LA with a second feature of Green Hornet. General admission to see both movies is $6.95. Kids ages 5 – 11 are only $1.00 and kids 4 and under are free.
