County Releases Proposed Budget

CEO Chandra Wallar released her proposed budget for the fiscal 2011-2012 year, which includes slashings that would close a $72 million budget deficit.

The reduction of 205 full-time positions would bring staffing levels to what they were more than 20 years ago. But with the governor’s May Revise, the numbers are surely going to change. As well, the county continues to talk with union groups, discussions that could lead to further savings come June when the supervisors sit down to make the budget final. Check for a more in-depth look at the proposed county cuts.
