TOP SPORTING EVENTS: MAY 26-JUNE 5

Two area teams are still alive in the CIF Southern Section playoffs – Dos Pueblos softball and Santa Barbara High baseball.

The DP girls (19-9), following a pair of 3-0 victories, travel to play Huntington Beach Ocean View (20-6) in the quarterfinals today (Thu., May 26).

The Dons (22-6) rallied to beat Yucaipa 7-5 on the road Tuesday, and they will host Harvard Westlake (23-7) on Friday at Eddie Mathews Field.

Bowing out of the playoffs Tuesday were the DP and Cate baseball teams and the Carpinteria softball team.

It is a weekend of championships and finality on other fronts. UCSB closes out its baseball season at home in a three-game series against Pacific. Both teams are 8-13 in the Big West Conference. The Breakers will host the West Coast Basketball League Final Four at Santa Barbara High on Saturday, with two semifinal games in the afternoon and the championship at 7 p.m.

The City Golf Championship is being played Saturday through Monday at the Santa Barbara Golf Club.
