S.B. photographer Joyce Wilson will unveil her latest exhibit, en Silence, with a reception at Hospice of Santa Barbara (2050 Alameda Padre Serra, Ste. 100) this Thursday, October 27, at 5:30 p.m. The collection was inspired by mythology and ancient cultures and was created during Wilson and her husband’s trip to Ireland, following his diagnosis with terminal cancer.


The Music Academy of the West recently announced the names of 13 young classical musicians who will participate in this year’s MERIT Extended Program. The students, ranging in ages from 12-18, will receive nine months of study and performance under the guidance of regional professional players. For more on the program, visit
