Every year the KIDS Network, a countywide umbrella organization including members from public agencies, the courts, law enforcement, education, community-based organizations, school-linked programs and parent groups, honors children for their contributions to the community. The annual Youth Impact Awards celebrate young people who have made a significant positive impact on their communities in Santa Barbara County.

We are currently accepting nominations for all qualified youth countywide. Youth Impact Award nominees may be individuals or groups of young people, between the ages of ten and eighteen, who reside and/or go to school in Santa Barbara County. The nominees’ contributions will be assessed based on the positive impact their actions have had on their respective communities in Santa Barbara County. Activities may include long-standing and/or time intensive volunteer service, the use of creativity and innovation, the demonstration of extraordinary resilience and perseverance in transforming hardships or challenges into positive change, or any other achievements that have had a positive, significant impact on the lives of others. The deadline to submit a nomination is November 30, 2011.

Three winners will be chosen by a selection committee comprised of KIDS Network members and a Santa Barbara County high school student representative, who all remain anonymous to ensure that the process is completely unbiased. Each winner will receive a small monetary award; all nominees will receive a certificate of acknowledgment. Winners will be honored at a meeting of the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors in early 2012.
