New Beginnings

Last Thursday, community members and elected officials celebrated the opening of the Braddock House in Old Town Goleta alongside the facility’s new residents. It was a wonderful event marking the newly completed construction of a semi-independent living facility for four low-income, developmentally disabled adults. It was amazing to see the collaborative efforts of Surf Development Company, the Housing Authority of the County of Santa Barbara, Tri-Counties Regional Center, the County of Santa Barbara, the City of Goleta and Creative Housing Solutions. Day to day care of the residents will be provided by Genesis Developmental Services with funds made available by Tri-Counties Regional Center. Donations of goods and services were also provided by Home Depot, Dwyer Cabinets, Goleta Valley Beautiful and Bella Furniture. This event highlighted the “goodness” of the Good Land.

The City of Goleta was able to contribute $200 thousand in the form of a forgivable loan through the City’s Redevelopment Agency. Helping our community’s neediest residents by building a facility which improves the quality of life and value of the area is exactly what a redevelopment agency is intended to do. The City is grateful for the opportunity to help our on this worthy project.
