Hannah-Beth Jackson, who worked in the Santa Barbara DA’s Office and later went on to serve three terms in the State Assembly, was honored on 9/15 by California Women Lawyers with the prestigious Fay Stender Award. It’s given annually to an attorney committed to women, disadvantaged groups, and unpopular causes, and is a role model for female attorneys. Jackson, who has expressed her intention to run in next year’s 19th District State Senate race, currently heads the Institute of the Renewal of the California Dream and is president of Speak Out California! She also hosts a weekly radio show on Saturday mornings.

That sounds like something Hannah-Beth would be awarded for; "unpopular causes".

Congrats Hannah-Beth Jackson. You're really one of the best.
And then there's the 'I'm mad about bulbouts and I'm not gonna take it anymore!" activists." Wazny you just can't leave it. Jeeez.

Interesting how she's been anointed a role model for *all* female attorneys. I guess opposing her means one doesn't like women or is self-loathing?
By the way, if you're reading this Ms. Jackson, I never did get a response from you on the subject of school vouchers even though I contacted you twice by e-mail and once by regular mail when you were running for office about ten years ago.

Sorry, azuresees, but you're quite wrong. I'm Hannah-Beth's cousin and I visited her in 1976 when she was working in the DA's office. She doesn't need to pad her brag sheet -- she's worked hard and accomplished a tremendous amount for the people of this region and the state, and the Fay Stender Award was a well-deserved honor.

And -- Hannah-Beth will make an outstanding State Senator, proudly and ably representing the good people of this district with her dedication to protecting the environment and the rights of the most vulnerable citizens.

Unfortunately, she probably will be a state senator. Californians have a long and unfortunate history of voting for people like her. She's just what we need in California; another lefty politician that wants to blindly throw money at any social and environmental program she comes across, ignores, even aggravates the illegal alien problem, and looks at businesses in California as the enemy. Thanks, but no thanks!
