Lyons Trial Jury Selection Begins

Jury selection for the third trial of Corey Lyons is underway. Lyons, who is accused of murdering his brother Daniel and Daniel’s longtime partner, Barbara Scharton, in their Mesa home on the morning the brothers were to settle a lawsuit over the house’s construction, saw his first two trials end in mistrials. One was due to an improper statement given by a witness, while the second ended in a hung jury. Because of publicity surrounding the case, potential jurors are being bused in from Solvang. Attorneys anticipate opening statements to begin on 10/5.
