A fundraiser for the family of the late Santa Barbara resident and Navy Master Chief Petty Officer Louis Langlais will be held on Tuesday, October 4 from 5-7 p.m. at the State Street Farmer’s Market. It will be put on by the Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with the Santa Barbara Navy League.
Langlais was part of the elite SEAL Team 6 credited with killing Osama bin Laden. He was one of 30 service members killed when their Chinook transport helicopter was shot down on August 6 in Afghanistan, marking the largest single-day loss of American life since the beginning of the war in October 2001.
Langlais was a resident of the Hope Avenue neighborhood and attended Santa Barbara Middle School and Santa Barbara High School. He is survived by his wife and two sons.
