“Every day is Earth Day here at Buttonwood Farm,” states Seyburn Zorthian, Partner of Buttonwood Farm Winery & Vineyard. “We’ve farmed and operated sustainably since before ‘sustainability’ was even a buzz word! April brings a focus to environmental practices and the whole farm concept, so we are pleased to show guests what we grow and how we farm during the month of April.”
April 15th – Life’s A Peach - A walking tour of the peach and pear orchard, with a meander across the pasture to the olive and pomegranate trees. Orchard Manager Fred Munch will explain the difference of our 16 different peach varietals on the Farm, and we’ll conclude with a tasting of wines with “stone fruit” characteristics.
April 22nd – Vineyard Hike - A walk through the hills and dales of our sustainably-farmed vineyard with Winemaker Karen Steinwachs and Soil Guru Stan Kadota. We’ll stop and taste various varietals, check out the progress of 2012 bud break, chat about soils, cane pruning and why we grow wine and farm the way we do.
April 29 – The Gardens at Buttonwood - Seyburn Zorthian and Abel Navaro will lead you on a tour of our herb and flower gardens. Savor the new herbs springing forth, the natural beauty of our patio garden and hear why we can grow peonies here! We’ll conclude with a tasting of “savory” wines on the Tasting room patio.
RSVPs are required, and the $10 wine tasting fee includes the tour, wine tasting and logo wine glass.
