Santa Barbara Sheriff’s patrol units responded to a 9-1-1 call at 2:29 this morning about a woman frantically screaming for help in the Camino De Vida/San Gordiano area of Goleta.

Another 9-1-1 call was made shortly after by a different woman in the 100 block of the Camino De Vida area. She said a man was on a stabbing spree. When the first sheriff’s unit arrived on the scene at 2:32 a.m., officers found a deceased man and woman on the upstairs stairwell landing of an apartment complex, said a department spokesperson.

Upon entering an apartment unit, officers rescued the woman who made the second 9-1-1 call. She had been stabbed. She was promptly transported to Goleta Cottage Hospital for treatment of her wounds, although they did not appear to be life-threatening.

A written statement released by the Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Department stated that “the preliminary investigation at the scene indicates that this attack was due to a domestic situation that culminated in a murder/suicide.”

Authorities have not released the deceased people’s names or the exact address where they were found and have not responded to requests for additional comment.
