A spokesperson with the Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Department explained that deputies responded to a report of a silver 2003 Mercedes-Benz SUV colliding with a tree. They discovered the car was totaled, the driver was not at the scene, and that Kurt Brimberry’s cell phone was on the SUV’s front seat. Authorities have not said if the car was registered to Brimberry, and it’s unclear if he lives in Santa Barbara County.

Shortly after the accident, a passerby reported seeing a person matching Brimberry’s description walking toward the Alisal Guest Ranch. Emergency responders, however, couldn’t find him and neither could Sheriff’s helicopter, dogs, or Search and Rescue personnel. Brimberry was not found at any nearby hotels or the hospital, the spokesperson said.

“Mr. Brimberry may require medical attention because of the collision and a previously existing medical condition,” explained the spokesperson. Brimberry was described as six feet tall, 210 pounds, with blond hair, blue eyes, and fair skin. He was last seen wearing a a light blue polo shirt, blue jeans, and Topsider deck shoes.

If anyone has seen Brimberry or has information on his whereabouts, call 911 or contact the Sheriff’s Department Dispatch center at (805) 683-2724.
