8/13: I was sleeping in the alleyway entrance to the Presbyterian church (Victoria and Anacapa). I woke after hearing a loud noise and I found a traffic cone laying near my head.

8/15, 10 p.m.: Six white teens came through the alley riding skateboards to have fun in the parking garage. After 30 minutes of hooting and hollering they pass through again. One takes a traffic cone and slams it down into my side of my hip while I was laying there. (I have been working the past two days pulling up carpet… I woke up this morning with a lot of pain running down from my back through my right leg.)

This group (white males 16 – 18 years old, five are average build, 5’8″ 140 pounds, with long hair; one is a white male, 6’2″ with short brown hair, 185 pounds) makes regular trips to play in the garage and they are quite loud. They will also be on video.

I made it to my office the next morning, but was in no condition to work. I went to file this report when the police station opened.

I give the report to [an officer] who asks me to sit down while he got the watch captain. After a very uncomfortable five minutes he returns, hands me the report, and tells me he has to call an officer to take the report. I tell him waiting any longer wasn’t what I had in mind. I ask him to call me, which apparently they can’t do … I left.

I also decided that dealing with them any longer will likely result in a second “illegal lodging” fine of $200 or four days community service or a day in jail, etc.
