It’s official: For the first time in the City of Goleta’s 10-year history, there will be an uncontested race for city council in November when councilmember Ed Easton aims to retain his seat and former Valley Voice publisher Jim Farr runs to take over for parting councilmember Margaret Connell.

While Easton and Farr will be the only names on the ballot, there is still the chance that a write-in candidate could enter, but that must be done in a proper manner, according to city clerk Deborah Constantino. Any registered City of Goleta voter wishing to be a write-in candidate must file a statement of candidacy and deliver the required number of signatures to Constantino’s office in the Goleta City Hall between September 10 and October 23.
