Supervisor Wolf to Honor Graduates of ADMHS

The graduation ceremony will take place at the Goleta Valley Community Center, 5679 Hollister Avenue, Goleta.

Established in 2010, the 10-day training is designed to help mental health consumers and family members from all regions of Santa Barbara County strengthen their skills and competencies to serve in either paid or volunteer roles offering peer support and mentorship.

“The Peer Support Training Program plays an important role in County Mental Health support services by enhancing the skills of both mental health consumers and their families. I commend those who have completed this program for their commitment to mental health issues in our community,” notes Supervisor Wolf.

“I also want to extend my appreciation to the County Mental Health department for continuing this program into its third year, and I am proud that it has received recognition from the California State Association of Counties as a Merit Award recipient,” Wolf adds.

Topics covered in the training include self-care, wellness and recovery, an overview of the public mental health system, stigma in the workplace, human rights, peer group processes, housing, employment, cultural competency and confidentiality.

The training was developed by the Santa Barbara County Department of Alcohol, Drug and Mental Health Services and made possible with funding from the Mental Health Services Act/Proposition 63 Workforce Education and Training program.
