Gunshot in Isla Vista

Authorities Searching for Hispanic Male with 9mm Handgun


A gunshot was heard in the 600 block of Del Play Drive in Isla Vista at around 1 a.m. on Saturday. No one was hurt. The UC Police Department described the shooting suspect as a Hispanic male in his twenties, 5 feet 8 inches tall, with a heavy build and a goatee. He was reportedly wearing a white baseball cap, a gray jersey, and jeans at the time of the incident. The UCPD said the suspect was armed with a 9mm handgun and was last seen heading westbound on Del Playa Drive away from campus.
