A man accused of harassing his ex-girlfriend in Carpinteria was sentenced to one year in County Jail Friday.

Evan Connor, 30, was arrested for allegedly stalking his ex-girlfriend on at least a couple of occasions in May 2012. He was arrested for “annoying electronic communications” and placed in County Jail while deputies obtained an emergency protective order for the victim. He was released later the same day, and the next evening was found “lurking” near the victim’s residence, authorities said. He was arrested again on allegations of violating a restraining order and stalking.

Connor recently pleaded guilty to felony stalking and was ordered to serve one year in County Jail, three years of felony probation, and ordered to take domestic violence classes, according to prosecutor Von Nguyen. If he does well, she said, his charge may be reduced to a misdemeanor at some point in the future.
