Hugs For Sandy Hook

Students Raise Funds for Those Affected by School Shooting

Four UCSB seniors have started a fundraising effort for the victims of the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut.

Rachel Axelrad, Isabel Atkinson, Chelsea Maccani, and Kate Maguire have so far raised over $3,600 to send teddy bears to people affected by the tragedy in time for the holidays.

“Our goal is to show solidarity. We simply want to show our love because there is very little else we can do at a difficult time like this,” Axelrad said.

Their goal is to raise $10,000 by Friday, December 21, so the teddy bears will arrive by Christmas.
