Though it’s Super Bowl Sunday, football tends to play second fiddle to SBIFF’s Closing Night Film & Awards, an event sponsored by The Santa Barbara Independent during which winners of the various competitions (from Audience Choice and 10-10-10 to Independent Cinema, Nueva Vision, and more) are announced before big crowds at the Arlington, and then the audience is treated to a usually crowd-pleasing treat of a film. This year’s offering is Where Do We Go Now? — a “sobering, comical, and uncanny” Lebanese film about a village surrounded by land mines, laced with hash cookies and casino showgirls, and full of music. Sunday, February 5, 7:30 p.m., Arlington Theatre.
