The goal of the SPLASH: Learn-to-Swim week is to teach each child the life-long swimming and water safety skills that are necessary in this beach-side community, as well as create amazing childhood memories.

SPLASH: Learn-to-Swim Week is a water safety program for Montecito YMCA friends and neighbors in the community and is offered at a reduced fee to participants who have little or no swimming ability. This course will introduce the aquatic environment to beginners, teach basic learn-to-swim skills, and increase water safety awareness for families. The goal is to make everyone feel safe and comfortable in and around the water. The Y has been teaching people to swim for over a century and is well equipped to meet this pressing community need. Through a partnership with the City of Santa Barbara Parks and Recreation Department, the Y has been able to teach water safety skills to over 3,000 kids over the past 19 years.

The 19th Annual Montecito Family YMCA SPLASH: Learn to Swim Week will take place at Ortega Pool (640 N. Salsipuedes Street) starting Monday, March 26th through March 30th. Swimmers and non-swimmers ages 5-13 are invited to participate in a week of 30 minute swim and water safety lessons.

Swim lesson start times: 11:00 pm, 11:30 pm, 12:00 pm, 12:30 pm, 1:30 pm, 2:00 pm, and 2:30 pm.

The program is offered to the entire community for a low cost of $10 for the week. This program is designed for participants of all swimming abilities. Participants will need to bring a towel, suit, sunscreen, and goggles if needed. Space is limited, and registrations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

In preparation for the session the Y is holding a swim suit drive beginning Monday, January 16. You can help a child in need by donating a new or gently used bathing suit, towel, or goggles to Splash: Learn to Swim Week. Items can be dropped off at the Montecito Family YMCA.
