Chuck Wagner served the County of Santa Barbara and its residents from 1961-1992 in a variety of capacities – first as the Assistant Roads Commissioner, then as Public Works Director and finally as Chief Administrative Officer.
The plaque will be mounted on the new freeway overcrossing at Hollister Avenue and Cathedral Oaks. Chuck shared his vision of building a bridge on the new alignment of Cathedral Oaks Road with his son Steve when Steve was just a young boy. Years later, Steve became the Community Services Director for the City of Goleta and made his father’s vision a reality when the City opened the bridge to the public on June 9, 2011. The plaque was funded through private donations and will be mounted on the bridge at a later date.
