Young Leaders Society Spread Valentine’s Cheer

Members of the Young Leader Society visit with Residents of Pilgrim Terrace

On Saturday, February 11, 2012, members of United Way of Santa Barbara County’s (UWSBC) Young Leaders Society’s (YLS) joined residents of Pilgrim Terrace Homes, a Non-Profit Independent Living “village” providing affordable housing for low income and/or disabled seniors.

As part of the “Take a Senior to Lunch” Community Action Commission (CAC) Nutrition Services Program, YLS members donated their time and money to make a positive impact in a senior’s live.

The young professionals provided arts and craft materials and helped the seniors create Valentine’s Day cards for their friends and family. Food and drinks were provided by the seniors as a thank you for YLS members. “THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!! I heard the seniors LOVED everyone and had a wonderful time. It truly made a difference in their lives!” wrote Tia Walker, CAC Development Associate.

In collaboration with CAC, YLS is promoting the “Take a Senior to Lunch” Campaign. To donate & provide a hot meal for a senior in need, please go to:
