Give a second-hand bicycle, regardless of need for repair, to be refurbished and given again to deserving youth.

Bicycling to school has declined steadily since 1969, when 50% of students walked or bicycled to school, and now only 13 percent of students do so. This is a trend that the Santa Barbara Bicycle Coalition aims to turn around.

The Santa Barbara Bicycle Coalition is hosting a bike drive to help support it’s youth bicycle education program. The program teaches youth on-road bike safety and maitainence. Youth without adequate bicycles will earn a refurbished one, a lock, lights, and a helmet. The aim of the program is to provide universal access to bicycle education throughout the South Coast.

If you have an old bicycle or bike parts, in any condition, please bring them out Saturday January 7th from 2-5pm at one of three drop off locations. In Goleta, Congregation B’nai Brith, downtown at First United Methodist Church, and in Montecito El Montecito Presbyterian Church. All donations are tax-deductable as allowable by law.
