This year the legal community will raise food and funds to feed local children summer lunches through the Foodbank’s Picnic in the Park Program. The Picnic in the Park Program provides nutritious lunches and physical activities to low-income children Monday – Friday for a 10 week period each summer.

With a generous sponsorship from Brownstein, Hyatt, Farber & Schreck, SBWL is well on their way to achieving their goal. “The leadership gift from Brownstein, Hyatt, Farber & Schreck has helped inspire the legal community and we are extremely grateful to them and SBWL for organizing Food from the Bar again this year,” acknowledged Erik Talkin, Chief Executive Officer of the Foodbank. “Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck is extremely proud to be a Community Partner/Sponsor for the Second Annual Food From the Bar campaign. The Foodbank is undertaking a number of programs to provide nutrition education in innovative ways to children and young people. Supporting our community is a priority for Brownstein, and so we are very proud to support the Food From the Bar campaign,” commented Peter Brown of Brownstein Hyatt Farber and Schreck, also a member of the Foodbank Board of Trustees.

“Food from the Bar is unique because attorneys, offices and legal organizations that may represent different interests in their work come together and rally behind a collective cause, to feed those in need in our community. The drive also shows how significantly the local bar can impact our community when we work together toward a common goal,” shared SBWL. “We cannot tolerate anyone in our community going hungry. We must come together and do whatever we can to ensure our neighbors, and in particular local children who do not have access to meals each day, are fed,” commented SBWL when asked why they are so passionately committed to this project.

Other financial partners include: Santa Barbara Women Lawyers, Walter R.
