In what could have been an hour-long Sprite infomercial, NBA superstar Kobe Bryant dropped by the Boys & Girls Club on East Canon Perdido Street this Monday to hype the donation that he, along with the soft-drink brand, made to the club to refurbish its basketball court. A Sprite spokesperson said the brand has helped to finance the renovation of Boys & Girls Club gyms across the country for the past two years and was happy to help the Santa Barbara location. Bryant reminded the gym full of young people, a sample of the 1,200 kids that the neighborhood organization serves, that if they have big dreams, they “gotta go get ’em.”
