Woman’s Body Found on More Mesa Beach

Death Being Investigated as Possible Suicide

The body of a middle-aged woman was discovered on More Mesa Beach Tuesday at around 3:30 p.m. A passerby came across the body and alerted authorities, said Sheriff’s Department spokesperson Sgt. Mark Williams, who said the woman’s identity won’t be released until her family is notified. Williams, explaining an investigation is in its very preliminary stages, said there’s nothing at this point to indicate the woman was the victim of foul play.

[UPDATE, 11:45 a.m.]: Sgt. Williams just released this statement to the media: “At this point we are investigating the case as a possible suicide. The family is very distraught this morning as you can imagine and have asked that we do not release any further info to the public. To be sensitive to the family we will honor their request and not put out additional information.”
