Montecito Hit-and-Run Fatality Identified

Allison J. Meadows, 26, Killed in Early Morning Crash; Lindsay Keebler, 25, Seriously Injured

Authorities identified the 26-year-old woman killed in a hit-and-run crash on East Valley Road in Montecito early Wednesday morning as Allison J. Meadows, a Santa Barbara resident originally from Paso Robles. Also injured in the crash was 25-year-old Lindsay Keebler, who remains in Cottage Hospital.

According to a report filed by the California Highway Patrol, which has some jurisdiction over the stretch of road as it is also Highway 192, a call came in just after 6 a.m. on Wednesday morning reporting “several trauma patients who had reportedly been hit by a vehicle in the Summerland area.” Two “good Samaritans” had taken the two women to Cottage Hospital, so the CHP, Santa Barbara Police Department, and Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department went to the hospital rather than the scene. Prior to their arrival, Meadows died of her injuries, listed as major head trauma. Keebler was in critical condition.

After interviewing the two men who picked up the women, law enforcement determined that they had been picked up at East Valley Road and Sheffield Drive, and then the CHP went to investigate, locating the scene and evidence that the collision had occurred just east of Stonehouse Lane.

“This investigation is ongoing,” explained the CHP report. “There is currently no information available on a suspect vehicle.”

Meadows was an employee at Issels Cancer Treatment Center in Santa Barbara; according to posts on Facebook, a vigil was planned for Thursday night in Paso Robles to honor her memory. Keebler works for Latitude 34˚ Technologies in Goleta.
